Module 2 - Adverse Effects of Oral Corticosteroids and How to Prevent Overuse in Patients with Severe and Uncontrolled Asthma

This module will include a discussion of the adverse effects of OCS, ways to minimize reliance on their use in the ED, and guideline-oriented strategies to prevent future overuse, promoting better patient outcomes.

Over his career, he has published over 275 peer-reviewed articles in allergy and clinical immunology and has been ranked by US News and World Report as being in the top 1% of doctors in his field. Dr. Bernstein, in previous years, additionally served as the president of the Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology – a nationwide organization with a membership of over 7,000 allergy clinicians.

Dr. Anita Goel is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Goel completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 2018 and is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine since October 31, 2019. Her clinical interests focus on emergency medicine, and she is affiliated with UC Health, practicing at both UC Medical Center and West Chester Hospital.
